The slopes and valleys are mostly covered with mixed, primeval and spruce forests and run through by countless creeks and rivers. The Isera, Labe and Aupa rivers that rise up in the hills, the alpine peaks around the Snezka (1602 m), the nordic tundra and the raised bogs are beauties of nature, unique to Central Europe.
Discover nature and protect it - to save it for all coming generations.

All of the region's cities and villages have a long history. They all seen rulers, political systems and different population groups come and go.
You'll find cities with beautiful arcade market squares and mansions, moutain resort towns and - exclusive to this region - widespread settlements of mountain lodges. Most of the municipalities have also German names, which, however, aren't used anymore due to the expulsion of the Sudeten Germans following WWII.
